What is the Role?

As the Principle Signalling Designer you will manage the day-to-day activities of a design office, independently check and producing your own designs. With the assistance of the Design Manager you will mentor and develop your junior designers. My client is currently working on projects at GRIP 3/4, GRIP 5 and you will be involved in these heavily from day one. You will also be involved in the creation, monitoring and constant improvement of internal signalling standards and processes.

Who are the likely candidates?

You will hold an IRSE Principle Design Licence (candidates with signalling design licence 1.1.150C and having a log-book ready or nearly ready for assessment for a Signalling Principles Designer License will also be considered). You should also be willing to work towards obtaining an IRSE Design Manager Licence, to enable you to manage a design group consisting of a number of design teams engaged on separate projects or discrete parts of a larger project.

What Skills do I need?

§ Demonstrable experience of managing the Signalling Design Production process.
§ Demonstrable experience of applying the Signalling Design Production process to Network Rail’s GRIP procedures.
§ Thorough and up to date knowledge of UK Signalling Principles.
§ Training/mentoring skills.
§ Strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
