Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer

Description

A Principal/Associate level Geotechnical Engineer is required to join our team.
Duties will include the following:

• Carry out geotechnical design tasks such as slope stability analysis, rock slope remediation, earth retaining structures, pile design, foundation parameters & retaining wall design etc.
• Project Management
• Mentor and train more junior staff
• Communicate effectively with clients and contractors
• Compile factual and interpretative reports
• Compile earthworks specifications
• Finite Element Analysis
• Financial Control
• Business Development
• Lab test scheduling and interpretation

Key Competencies

Skills

Able to log both soil & rock to BS 5930
Scheduling & testing to BS1377
Able to work to budget & timescales
Design Risk Assessment

Qualifications

 Graduate engineers qualified to BSc (Hons) in Geology, B Eng Civil Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline is required
 Preferably an Msc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering

Experience

Extensive experience of Site Investigation, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status & experienced in the following areas:

 Geotechnical Design
 Desk studies
 Logging soils and rocks to BS5930
 Lab test scheduling
 GI design and management in the UK,
 Contaminated Land/Brownfield investigations and remediation experience preferably
 Interpretative reporting,
 Financial control
 Business Development
 Monitoring protocols
 Sampling protocols
 Slope Stability Analysis
 Use or knowledge of Holebase III
 Use of knowledge of FE Packages, SlopeW, WALLAP etc
