Job Summary From excellence in engineering design, infrastructure and rail vehicles, to programme management of multi-discipline investment projects, Atkins Rail provides its customers with services covering every aspect of global rail operations.To manage projects in a consultancy environment to maximise returns and project margins. Establish and maintain effective working relationships between clients, contractors and other project teams. Accountable for the management of project activities to the satisfaction of the internal or external client, ensuring satisfactory control, monitoring and implementation of projects.
Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed resource plans for projects and organising, appointing, briefing and directing effective matrix project teams to ensure the work is carried out cost effectively and to specification.
Ensure that project costs and resources are closely monitored and controlled. Management of change control Developing and controlling staff to establish and maintain a highly motivated and dedicated project management team Co-ordinating, motivating and directing the project teams, contractors and consultants to ensure that all safety, quality, cost and programme targets are met and to ensuring compliance with policies and procedures Negotiating and administering all agreements with outside parties Ensuring the implementation of all Health and Safety requirements of the project Providing the management information required by the client and other appropriate authorities to ensure that the progress and completion of projects are monitored and recorded
Requirements Qualification Degree level qualified or equivalent desirable Project Management Qualification; APM, Prince2 or equivalent or willingness to undertake qualification Technical Skills and Experience Proven track of managing projects (circa £0.5m + fee value) Commercial/contractual experience Proven Client Engagement skills Experience of working in the rail industry highly desirable but would consider other industries. Microsoft Project or P3 proficient desirable Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint proficient Behavioural Skills - Excellent communicator Self motivation and drive Tenacious Team player Man management skills
