Job Description
Within the ATKINS Highways and Transportation business, a member of the Optima Infrastructure Management Consultancy Services Division. Are you looking for a career in highway engineering? ATKINS is offering a unique career opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join its Development Control team to assist in advising Clients of the impact development proposals present to the operation of the Strategic Road Network. Your challenge will be how you apply yourself to assist managing development expectations and influence the outcome of the planning process. The role offers you exposure to highway engineering disciplines and project delivery in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

In this role you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist the Development Control team and provide advice to the Client, which will include the following tasks:
    • Site visits
    • Obtain data by investigation and liaison
    • Prepare written advice and supporting documents
    • Complete delegated tasks as instructed by senior team members
    • Complete responses to minor consultations with guidance
    • Respond to requests for permanent and temporary highway signs
    • Facilitate Land Search enquiries


Skills, knowledge and experience:
  • Minimum HNC qualification or equivalent in a related field e.g. Civil Engineering, Spatial Planning, Construction Management etc
  • A valid UK / EU driving licence as there will be frequent site visits to hard to reach locations
  • Computer literate in using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Access
