Testing Engineer required to work in the Midlands on a power supply upgrade project within the rail sector on a contract basis until the end of November.
An intensive programme of testing & commissioning is about to begin for the power supply upgrade. At each stage, section proving and system testing will be undertaken in each feeder area.
As the testing engineer, you will develop testing and commissioning strategies, plans and programmes for the entire project scope, including distribution sites in classic feeding mode, interfaces with new Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) points, changeover programmes to AT feeding and section proving overhead line equipment.
Additional responsibilities:
• Produce system test specifications and plans to ensure that the project is carried out safely (i.e. closure of identified system hazards).
• Identify the system testing requirements for the project and feeding areas.
• Draw up plans to ensure that the tests are executed safely and maximum benefit is gained from the available test possession.
• Develop the classic/AT changeover philosophy for each feeding area and thus work out the distribution site commissioning strategy.
• Manage on site system testing and changeover activities/resources and act as Test Engineer during system testing and changeover possessions.
• Identify each distribution site commissioning requirements, including SCADA/Telecoms and ensure that all suppliers’ test plans are integrated with the project programme, delivered safely and with minimum impact on existing services.
• Co-ordinate and witness on site testing.
• Identify and witness product acceptance tests in support of design and product approval.
• Ensure specialist testing resources are identified and test specifications produced. Comply with procurement and commercial processes to obtain such resources.
• Liaise with territory engineers and others and to ensure that the testing and commissioning of the new autotransformer feeding arrangements is carried out without disruption to services
• Co-ordinate with O&M Manager for the provision of operational documentation including isolation diagrams and instructions, normal and emergency feeding instructions,/electrical control room instructions and ESI/railway supply operation instructions to cover final and all stage implementations.
