JOB PROFILE
The Transportation Unit provides a wide range of technical, managerial and analytical services to our customers throughout the world and also specialist support to other part of the Group. Projects within the division include Aweer Power Station, Khartoum North Power Station, various schemes for Severn Trent Water, Basrah Aerodrome Lighting, San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, Network rail bridges such as London Road Ascot Station and Ashford Billet. We also have a Highways Agency framework contract relating to the inspection of motorway communications equipment.

We are currently looking for an Electrical and Railway Communications Engineer to work closely on the development and delivery of Mott MacDonald’s current portfolio of work with Clients that will be various external and internal across transportation, energy, water and process industry.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Railway Communications Engineer will be responsible for delivery of discipline communications projects working alongside and within multi-disciplinary projects.

Responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:
• Design/testing/inspection/installation/commissioning/site supervision of railway network communications systems such as SCADA
• Project and team management including managing contractors/consultants as projects dictate.
• Working within large, multi-disciplinary projects and ensuring delivery to meet and exceed client expectations.
• Developing leads and contacts within the rail industry into profitable projects.
• Must be able to work in and develop an engineering inspection team.
• Support, mentor and manage junior team members.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
The candidate is likely to have 3+ years technical experience in railway network communications systems ideally from a consultancy environment working with public and private sector clients.

The suitable candidate should have the following characteristics:
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) and ideally postgraduate 2nd qualification in engineering/science subject PTS card.
• The candidate should ideally be a member of IET and or IRSE or Chartered or actively working towards these accreditations.
• A minimum of 3 years in the following Project management, team leader/supervisory, management of contractors or consultants.
• able to work on there own initiative although must be able to work in a team environment.
