Job Description:

To provide support to the Senior Engineer and Senior Supervisor all aspects of technical work as directed. To ensure the production of survey, design and site implementation is undertaken to the appropriate timescales, standards and with the appropriate authorities.

Essential requirements:

Education to ONC/OND in Civil Engineering
experience in the execution of Track Renewals including all aspects of survey / design and implementation on site using levels, theodolites and laser equipment.
Computer literacy
Knowledge of Risk Assessment techniques
PTS
Understanding of Network Rail Line Standards
125mph Speed Raising – (Within 6 months of appointment)
Stressing Level 3 - (Within 6 months of appointment)
Comprehensive understanding and experience in surveying techniques and track alignment design.
Must be able to drive

Desirable skills:

Geographical knowledge of Territory
Good understanding of the construction / railway industry.
Understanding of the Railway Operating Environment
COSS
Member of a relevant professional institute.
Understanding commercial process’s and requirements.

Specific safety responsibilities:

Responsible for the preparation of the design of the Works taking into consideration the need to avoid foreseeable risks, to combat at source any risk identified and to give priority to measures which protect safety of the line.
Co-ordinate with Network Rail Project Manager to ensure that consideration (and approval as required) has been given to the above measures
Participate in regular monthly safety meetings with the Construction Manager.
Undertake technical Inspections as directed.
Carry out site-specific inspections and compliance audits as required.

Required safety training:

PTS(essential)
Emergency First Aid
CDM Regulations
Emergency First Aid at Work
Project Induction


Responsibilities:

To carry out analysis, prepare plans / programmes, check designs and estimates, undertake detailed planning, site visits, and progress work as directed.
Ensure that all technical design is compliant to relevant standards.
Ensure that site reports are completed and returned in a timely and accurate manner.
Attendance at planning and progress meetings as required.
Attendance at all training and induction courses as directed.
Production and submission of substantial completion packages in a timely manner.
Weekend /Night duty as per roster.

Most challenging aspects of the role:

Ensuring that all site reports are completed satisfactorily and data entered into progress log.
Ensure timely completion of substantial completion files and submission to the client for acceptance.
Achieve zero technical non-compliances and corrective actions under external technical audit.
