We are looking for a Senior Rail Engineer to work for a large design consultancy near Birmingham. You will provide excellent railway design capability to projects. Provide excellent rail engineering skills and technical knowledge of railway design and operations, within an environment of high quality and timeliness. Integrate with colleagues, and operate with enthusiasm and a sense of purpose for the projects and the business.
You will be responsible for the Production or Checking of detailed railway designs and calculations within an implementation project, renewals, or track amendments resultant from other Railway asset renewals.
Mainly able to work without supervision.
Also responsible for outline and detailed railway design input and calculations (concepts/ design principles) to multidisciplinary design teams on larger or medium sized projects.
Work content includes Producing or Checking: preliminary and detailed railway layouts; technical studies and reports; generation and evaluation of technical design options; design calculations and analysis; specialised report writing and interfacing with other disciplines.
Work may also include concept design, feasibility design and operations.
Will provide design office cover for Commissioning activities as required.
Ability to plan and manage the work of self and others within the defined scope of a series of activities or a project.
Responsible for own tasks and tasks of team to agreed timescales.
Responsible for attending in-house and external training sessions, and for keeping record of own training and personal development.
Will be responsible for some mentoring and skill development of Graduate Engineers, Designers and Technicians under training learning on the job providing guidance, training and feedback.
Operating in accordance with local Quality Assurance procedures.
Contributing to the development of good practice within discipline through involvement with skills networks.
Liaison with relevant external parties to ensure understanding of the client’s needs and project requirements
Requirements
Good Civil Engineering B.Eng or M.Eng Degree.
Any other post graduate achievements (Diploma, PhD, etc) would be an advantage.
A member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Chartered Engineer
