Track surveying including
Preparing Method Statements
Knowledge of the Gzam system
Basic project management skills including managing Topo Surveys, Safety Critical Staff & other railway disciplines.
Ability to undertake and lead survey teams in Hallade & Theodolite straight & Levelling
Manage Topographical Surveyors
Platform / Structure gauging
Knowledge of Laser Rail’s equipment for gauging
Plain Line including
Hallade using first principals and excel spreadsheets
Theodolite Straights
Vertical alignment
General Arrangements
Drainage
Material Specification
Knowledge of Clear Route Software
Preparation of Form A & B documents
S&C including
Working with Topographical Surveys
S&C Design in AutoCAD & MX Rail
Co-Planer vertical alignments through S&C
General Arrangements including Multi discipline GA’s
1:50 Detailed S&C manufactures drawings
Preparation of Form A & B documents
General
Optioneering designs, both horizontally and vertically.
General scheme layouts – Depots / Sidings
Drainage Design
Good knowledge of P way Geometry and Maths
Liaison with Clients – communication skills
Willingness to work unsociable hours – Nights / Weekends (occasional)
Preparation of feasibility reports
Software
AutoCAD – Essential
MS Office (Word / Excel) – Essential
Micro station – Desirable
MX – Desirable
Clear Route – Desirable
Skills
Good communication skills,
Strong IT skills
Able to work with minimal supervision
Able to produce neat clear calculations in a structured format
Ability to undertake surveys, including levelling.
Qualifications
Civil or Structural Engineering degree considered, however OND/HND in Civil Engineering qualification would be considered with 5+ years experience.
Working towards IEng, CEng, MICE
