We are looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer to work for a large railways organisation based in Birmingham. The role is working for a department known as Enhancements. The Enhancements team facilitates the majority of major rail enhancement projects delivered by third parties. They also undertake smaller enhancements to meet Network Rail’s customer needs. The team has particular in-house expertise in the construction and completion of committed “legacy” projects, initiatives arising from the Safety and Environment Plan, and schemes sponsored by the Office of Rail Regulator (ORR), TfL and other Network Rail funded scheme key stakeholders. This particular department are responsible for a number of high profile specialist projects which require various innovative solutions to complete. Projects include Petts Hill, Bromsgrove Station, Watford interchange Car Park and Cambrian Coast to name just a few (they currently have 51 projects running simultaneously). The teams consists of design engineers covering civil structural, p-way, M&E and OLE.
The successful candidate will have a significant years experience both in design and construction of civil engineering infrastructure, preferably within multidisciplinary projects in the railway environment. A technical qualification to HNC/HND or GNVQ level in civil or structural engineering is essential. Membership of a relevant professional institution would be considered an advantage as would an appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works. Candidates should be from a multi disciplined building background and have experience of various buildings and structures. Whilst Rail experience is not essential it is strongly preferred. |
