My client is currently looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based in Swindon working on projects within their Southern Rail Framework
Main duties will include
-Maintaining high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with company policy and participate fully in the Dont Walk By' initiative.
-Maintaining effective communication with contract managers, project management, managing / project QS and other associated disciplines.
-Assisting in staff matters which may include recruitment, attitude and behavioural issues, competency, retainment and staff allocation to meet a projects need.
- Carrying out staff performance and development reviews and assist in the management of the commercial training programme.
- Providing and controlling strategy of commercial contacts with clients representatives.
- Providing commercial contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
- Commercial management of subcontractors including processing payments and resolving disputed issues by negotiation, if appropriate.
- Providing input to risk profiling and general management on projects.
- Monitoring the timely production of reliable cost reports and QFs.
- Produce and present monthly / quarterly reports including cashflow information.
- Initiating discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
- Input into drafting and promote usage of Company procedures.
- Supervising change management including adherence to the programme established approach.
- Ensuring timely production of adequate levels of applications for payments in accordance with the provisions of the conditions of contract.
- Providing commercial advice to the site team, and management of all contractual issues.
- Attending and providing input to project start-up and close-out meetings.
- Producing and negotiating insurance claims with insurers representatives.
- Managing time and workloads for yourself and the commercial team in a structured manner.
- Assisting with commercial training to all site staff.
- Carrying out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
The ideal candidate will be ICES or RICS (or equivalent) accredited with a thorough knowledge of company health, safety, quality, environment and construction procedures and working methods. Have enhanced understanding of construction law and contractual terms in all standard contract forms and preferably (but not essentially) have experience of framework, cost reimbursable, projects and tenders.
