What is the Role?

Within its Rail Division, our client has an exciting and challenging portfolio of projects and Clients. The Projects Business undertakes a wide variety of signalling renewal and other network enhancement projects on behalf of their primary Client, Network Rail.

This position could suite somebody looking to progress his or her career and become a Signal Design Manager. The company has a fast track system supported IRSE that enables good engineers to gain license 1.1.145 to become a manager. This is something that many other consultancies are unable to offer therefore offering invaluable career progression.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
· Manage a team of typically 10 staff engaged in the production of designs, specifications, reports and working drawings to meet contract requirements within agreed timescales and performance parameters
· Develop junior staff Implement the requirements of Atkins Rail Business Management System, Core Assurance Case and Railway Safety Case
· Assist in determination of engineering policy and deal with engineering and contractual matters with professional integrity at all times Project Manager with P& L responsibility for small, single discipline projects (£100k)

The clients Rail's Western team comprises nearly 50 staff, of which around 25 are civil, structural, geotechnical and permanent way engineers. The team works on all aspects of heavy civil engineering projects, including bridge design and assessment, structural design of signal gantries, stations and depots, foundation design, earthworks stabilisation and permanent way (track) layouts.

Some of their key projects recently include Earl's Court Station Modernisation, South Wales Resignalling, and the West Coast Main Line Upgrade. Their engineers also work on international projects in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
