What is the Role?
As a civil engineer you will be required to work within the civil and structural design team. You will be involved in the creation of engineering solutions, working on the feasibility studies and technical reports. A large requirement will be the formation and examination of design calculations, design concepts, drawings, specifications and technical documents. You will be working alongside other junior team members and CAD technicians.
As well as the design work you will be undertaking, you will have some on-site duties, including inspection and assessment, as well as surveying and monitoring. You will be required to fill in the required written documents when on-site, as well as have the ability to, and be prepared to undertake SEC On-call Engineer duties every 13 weeks.
The company are also planning on creating a new branch within London this year, and the Swindon branch will be first choice in finding internal employees to fill the vacancies that this new branch will create. Therefore, if you do move to London you will be given the opportunity to build up a new branch from scratch.

The company are initially offering £20,000 - £28,000 depending on experience. ICE training is also offered to those looking to become chartered.


Who are the likely candidates?

A likely candidate will have a strong academic background and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience within a UK based consultancy. Your experience should cover the design of bridge or building/general structures. You will need to have previous experience in the rail industry and those who can show knowledge of railway standards will be favoured. You must have the ability to work well within a team, including CAD technicians. Candidates who have knowledge of other analysis software such as Super STRESS and SCALE will be preferred.

What Skills do I need?

· Strong academic background
· Previous experience in the design of Bridges or buildings.
· Previous experience in railway is preferred.
· Ability to work well within a team
· Knowledge of AutoCAD
· Knowledge of SuperSTRESS, SCALE and/or Archie is preferred
· On-site experience – assessment and inspection
