What is the Role?

A new role has occurred for a Tunnel Engineer to work for our client’s offices in East Grinstead. You will be required to provide a support to the overall delivery of a wide variety of tunnel and shaft designs. This will include advice on the options available, to the detail of designs and extend to the management of the client deliverables. You will enjoy a degree of autonomy over the management of options but will be expected to behave as a team member in any decisions and strategies to be adopted.

You should have a wide appreciation of tunnel design and be chartered or working towards chartered status. While being able to explain clearly their own thoughts it is essential to be able to adjust and adapt designs to a range of M&E, environmental and other considerations. Tunnel site experience is considered very desirable unless the scope of design experience is particularly wide ranging.

To support the overall delivery of tunnel and shaft designs. Provide input on the options available, manage the detailing of designs - and liaise with the internal management of CAD technicians and other departments to produce the client deliverables.

Who are the likely candidates?

Team oriented individual, capable of taking up the challenges in the team that fit their own experiences and capabilities. Able to provide critical appreciation of as well as generate ideas and work with them. The position may also offer potential to become team a leader.

What Skills do I need?

Ideally post chartered experience for this potentially senior role. An ability to contribute to innovative solutions and be a persuasive advocate. An understanding of quality and environmental management systems. Experience in Health and Safety Plans and the experience to create sensible Designer’s risk assessments
