Job Description
The E&M division undertakes electrical and mechanical design, survey, and specification activities within the UK Rail Market. The E&M Engineer will be a key member of the team producing detailed designs for our clients and to Atkins Rail standards. We have recently relocated to modern new offices at number 1 Croydon which is immediately adjacent to East Croydon Rail, tram and bus station. The newly refurbished office affords a clean, modern workplace; providing you with a healthy and professional working environment. Current major rail projects include upgrade and improvement works on Thameslink, Docklands Light Railway and Kings Cross Station as well as work on the East London Line extension and W10 Route Clearance in the south east.
Responsibilities
- Undertake site visits as required either as part of the design activities or as part of technical support to installation or audit
- Undertake electrical design to Client and Atkins Rail standards
- To check E&M designs prepared within own team and other groups within area of expertise
- Provide input and support to the E&M Manager for the preparation of bids
- A willingness to work nights and over weekends and bank holidays on an ad-hoc basis would be advantageous
- Prepare estimates and written methodologies on behalf of the E&M Manager for inclusion within bid documentation
Requirements
- Graduate IEE or CIBSE leading to Chartered Engineer status would be preferred although candidates qualified to Incorporated Engineer status with relevant experience would be acceptable
- Experience as an electrical designer preferably within the railway environment but as a minimum within building services or infrastructure
- Competent electrical designer to BS7671
- Sound numerate and conceptual skills Experience of computer based design tools such as AMTECH would be an advantage.
- Ability to express clearly ideas and concepts in documents, letters and orall
- Ability to work constructively in teams and identify and resolve issues in constructive manner
- Must be physically capable of satisfying medical requirements for Network Rail PTS and equivalent LUL track access certification
- Ability to drive and have UK driving licence
