Our client is part of a large group who service the construction and civil engineering sectors as a whole. They are a £b turnover group who are well respected worldwide.
This division is one of the UKs leading specialist piling and ground engineering company. They currently have a requirement for an Project Manager/Engineer for the Ground Engineering division.
The responsibility of the Estimator is to win value added and other profitable work on the best possible terms for the company with the help and support of your colleagues.
Roles and responsibilities are:
•Assess enquiries sent into the office in conjunction with the Area Proposals Team Leader, for suitability to price
•Provide to the approving team an accurate appraise of the clients requirements, summarising the points and identifying the risks and opportunities with the tender/ contract
•Liaise with designers to come up with workable solutions to potential risks that are economically viable
•Seek opportunities to increase profitability of tenders
•Produce detailed estimates, including pricing of all necessary items and labour considerations for contract execution
•Ensure that information on the in-house, bespoke estimating system (Foundation) is both accurate and up to date, and use the library of rates for the production of estimates
•Liaise with other team members to get pertinent information on techniques/ production, to be able to produce contract winning estimates
•Attend tender clearance meetings with the personnel appropriate to the level of contract being tendered, which may involve the Area Manager, Proposals Manager and/ or a Director Present your view of the tender to both the Area Proposals Team Leader, and also at tender clearance meetings, outlining any concerns, risks or key opportunities
•Ensure that deadlines set by clients for tenders are met
•Delegate key parts of the tender documentation to relevant personnel across the business/ area; such as health and safety, HR, purchasing, etc
•Attend and contribute at meetings and presentations with clients as part of the proposals team
