Job Description:

To manage and deliver allocated Track Renewals job bank in a safe and effective manner, conforming to contract specification and delivery to approved programme and targets costs.
To provide leadership and direction to the depot based team so as to achieve delivery of the contracted works.

Essential requirements:

Good management skills
Experience of construction within the railway infrastructure, including Track renewals.
Geographical knowledge of Territory.
Understanding of the Railway Operating Environment
Understanding of Railway Planning systems
Health & Safety Training (IOSH)
Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations
Knowledge of Risk Assessment techniques
Knowledge of accident investigation techniques
PTS / IWA
Understanding of Network Rail Line Standards
Able to drive
Computer literate.
Understanding commercial process’s and requirements.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing and organising the activities of the delivery team, keeping the Operations Manager constantly updated on production and cost progress.
Identify and provide the necessary resources to deliver the Track Renewals effectively, so as to optimise productivity and maximise output, ensuring delivery of the programme in a safe manner to time, budget and quality.
Establish key foreseeable project risks and initiate appropriate mitigation measures.
Ensure effective management of workforce to achieve high levels of safety, performance, attendance and behavioural standards.
To promote safe working practices and ensure implementation and compliance to the AIS Safety Management System.
Ensure that all work activities have obtained the necessary approval with regards to method statements, design and target cost prior to commencement of the works.
To ensure that all contract, technical and administrative instructions are implemented.
Ensuring that all Plant and equipment on site is procured in accordance with ACJV Procedures.
To ensure that standards of tidiness are maintained at line-side, in offices and site establishment, in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Construction Phase Plan.
Maintain regular and appropriate dialogue and contact with the Operations Manager in order to fully understand the Joint Venture aspirations and objectives.
Ensure that the Depot Team delivers its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include financial, commercial, safety and personnel related issues, as agreed with IMT Executive Board.
Submit contract budget / forecasts in accordance with agreed time-scales.
Produce and submit Period and Weekly Progress Reports to IMT Executive Board as directed, in an agreed format and timely manner.
To liaise with IMT members as necessary to ensure the efficient running of the projects.
Develop and promote positive working relationships within Track Renewals IMT.
To promote, through pro active leadership, improvements in Safety, Health and Environmental management in line with the objectives set by the General Manager.
Perform Level 3 On Call duties I in 8.
Weekend/Night duty as deemed necessary.
