Job Summary Atkins is providing ongoing design services to a number of major programmes across the defence, clean-up and decommissioning sectors within the nuclear industry and our programme of work is growing. Opportunities therefore exist for degree qualified civil/structural engineers at various levels of experience to join the Defence side of our Nuclear business. You will gain the opportunity to work on the production of technical deliverables on unique and challenging multidiscipline engineering projects of all shapes and sizes. We are currently undertaking design services in support of an ongoing programme of modernisation and refurbishment at two major sites in Berkshire. We are keen to hear from experienced engineers and designers already in, or who would like to diversify into, the nuclear industry and be trained to work on exciting major projects UK wide. These roles will initially be based in Berkshire and will offer you the opportunity to gain excellent training and to work on a number of different projects. Duties and Responsibilities:The holders of these positions will be responsible for some or all of the following civil/structural engineering elements of multi-disciplinary projects depending on experience: · Client and Atkins senior management engagement· Project definition· Preparation of conceptual and scheme designs · Preparation of technical specifications· Production and checking of the detailed design deliverables and engineering drawingsThe nature of the roles will also require occasional work at client site locations.
Requirements Essential Requirements: Due to the nature of work undertaken at our client’s site, incumbents for these positions are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore we are only able to consider applications from sole British Citizens. Applicants who meet these criteria will also be required to undergo security clearance vetting, if not already cleared to a minimum SC level. We are keen to hear from qualified engineers with some experience in regulated industries with the following: Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, or closely related subject Chartered MICE or MIStructE for more senior positions, or working towards Chartership Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products Recognised training of software packages i.e. AutoCAD, FE analysis software an advantage. Project engineering experience, including design, project management and some site supervision would be an advantage You will be self-driven to meet targets and have a high level of commercial awareness.
