What is the Role?
We are looking to recruit a Senior Bridge Engineer to work for an International, multi-disciplinary consultancy within the Rail industry. You will be based from their Croydon office and would be responsible for managing a small team of up to 5 individuals. You will be working in the bridge design team within an established rail business.
Responsibilities Include:
· Detailed design and detailed design management from inception to completion. 75% of time will be will be spent on design.
· Responsible for team of up to 5 people
· Involvement with cost managers, tenders and invoicing of projects
· Daily management of projects, reporting to the project manager
· Responsibility or delivering up to 10 projects concurrently to time and budget
· Supervising and assisting assistant engineers and technicians
· Liase with external sub contractors
· Client presentations

Who are the likely candidates?
As a likely candidate you will have previous experience leading and developing you own team of professionals in the bridge division. Ideally you will be:
· Degree qualified
· Proven track record of producing detailed designs
· Experience within a consulting background
· Personnel management or project management experience.
· Good design experience, steel, concrete and composite design essential. Solid foundation design experience preferred.
What Skills do I need?
You will ideally have some of the following skills and experiences, these are not all essential however if you can demonstrate a good amount of these you will be considered and highly thought of for this desirable position.
· Work without supervision
· The ability to “manage client interfaces on a day to day basis”
· Translate designs into engineering drawings, schedules and current specifications
· To produce neat clear calculations in a structured format
· Experience in leading a team of engineers
· To have working knowledge or railway standards
· Capable of “hands on approach to design and technical coaching junior staff”
· Excellent communicator
· Sound IT skills
