What is the Role?

A new opportunity exists within a top railway design consultancy for a senior rail engineer in order to help successfully deliver civil and structural engineering solutions to a range of clients in Scotland. Your base will be Glasgow however the position may include some travel. This is an exciting and challenging role within a supportive team, with a buoyant workload and a variety of challenges.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following key activities:

· Production of outline and detailed design solutions
· Use of design software including superstress
· Report writing
· Involvement with cost management, tenders and invoicing of projects
· Client liasing
· Hand calculations
· Management of CAD resources
· Mentorship of staff
· Liase with sub contractors
· Client presentations
· Supervision of site work

Who are the likely candidates?

Ideally you will have experience within bridge design within the rail industry, it would also be an advantage to be a chartered civil engineer or approaching this status however good experience rail background is paramount.

Qualifications;

Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Driving license essential

PTS desirable

What Skills do I need?

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Demonstrate a working knowledge of Railway standards
· Translate designs into engineering drawing
· Work without supervision
· Excellent communication skills
· Good attention to detail
· Good IT skills
· Lead a team of engineers
