Job Summary Atkins requires an experienced Chief Resident Engineer to head the client’s representative team on an £80m railway infrastructure project. The CRE will lead a team of Atkins staff overseeing the construction of a structures intensive railway project in the West of Scotland.
Requirements Qualifications The candidate must be a Chartered Engineer with membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent. The candidate must also have experience of fulfilling this role on a major transportation infrastructure project of similar scale. Technical knowledge - An understanding of the design of multifunctional railway projects
- Construction of Reinforced concrete, steel composite and medium span bridges
- Installation of railway infrastructure to railway specifications
- The constraints of working on or adjacent to an operational railway
- Ability to oversee construction works on a fixed priced lump sum basis, preferably using the Transport Scotland TR:IPS contract model.
Responsibilities
- To organise the site team to ensure compliance of the construction works with the Employers Requirements, specifications and standards.
- To lead site meetings with the contractor and client.
- To manage the clients site representative site presence
- To monitor the implementation of the contractors quality management system
- To report progress on site to the client
- To monitor site activities

- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to motivate a team to deliver excellence
- The self motivation to take control of issues if appropriate and set high standards for delivery
