Job description
To undertake traction power engineering activities within the group, in respect of both design and consultancy services. To provide technical support and assistance.
Undertaking of tasks as assigned, in particular:
- Delivering traction power engineering (design and consultancy) specific tasks
- Contributing a traction power engineering input to electrification engineering (design and consultancy) projects
- Contributing a traction power engineering input to multi disciplinary railway engineering (design and consultancy) projects.
- Contribute to developing Mott MacDonald’s company expertise in traction power engineering.
Candidate specification
The successful applicant will be educated to graduate level with at least a BEng in Electrical Engineering. General engineering experience in safety related/safety critical systems and a Chartered Engineer (or embarked on a path leading to) and be able to demonstrate expertise of having worked on major infrastructure projects.
Ideally, applicants for the Traction Power Engineer will have the following expertise:
- High Voltage/630/750V DC
- Traction
- Cabling
- Distribution (AC and DC Power distribution systems)
- Experience in LV(750V DC) Distribution System Design, 3rd (4th) Rail Electrification Design and working knowledge of traction Power System Simulation Studies
- Good communication skills, both orally and written and confidence in dealing with all people at all levels across the Company.
- Good and up to date knowledge of present standards and legislation associated in both the LV & HV power systems.
