Primary Purpose of the Role:
Work within the Systems Engineering Team with particular focus on the capture and management of requirements.
The Systems Engineering Team work on projects for a wide range of customers within the Transportation, Water and Energy industries. Requirements Management is a key part of the projects and due to increasing workload we are looking to supplement the Systems Engineering Team with a Systems Engineer whose core activities would be related to requirements management.
The successful applicant will work as part of the Systems Engineering Team assisting with the capture of requirements and then management of the requirements through the project lifecycle.
Key Tasks:
•Capture requirements.
•Effectively manage the requirements through the project lifecycle including changes to the User Requirements and the impact on the project.
•Contribute to the requirement reviews.
•Liaise with the customer with regard to requirements management issues.
•Attend project progress and change control meetings.
•Maintain quality target/standard.
•Escalate issues to the Requirements Manager where necessary.
•Provide weekly status reports to the Requirements Manager.
Technical & Professional skills:
Essential qualities:
•DOORS experience
•Good understanding of the concepts related to Requirements and Requirements Management.
•Practical experience of requirements use within a project.
•Good communication skills.
•Ability to analyse information effectively.
•Good knowledge of project lifecycles.
•Practical experience of working on projects at various stages in the lifecycle.
Desirable qualities:
•Previous responsibility for managing requirements.
•Configuration control.
•Awareness with technologies used within domain solutions would be advantageous but not essential e.g. LAN, WAN, CCTV, PIDs, VIDs, Telephony, Radio, SCADA, PLCs.
•System specification experience.
•System testing experience.
•Design experience.
Education & Qualifications:
Degree qualification or applicable experience
