CAPABILITY SYSTEM SAFETY SPECIALIST
LOCATION: Warton, Preston, Lancashire, North West, North
SALARY: £26700 - 35200 & Benefits

Required are conscientious individuals who are willing to learn new skills and to support development of the current and future business objectives and initiatives such as Tornado ATTAC, CDSS and AY TSP. As part of these strategies new ground is currently being broken with regards to Safety Management. This presents numerous opportunities with which to demonstrate a more proactive approach and radical thinking, thus presenting real scope for personal development.

The role includes liaison and communication with a diverse range of engineering and project disciplines, customers and regulators, in addition to management of system safety planning and requirements definition to ensure System Safety is considered as an integral part of the engineering lifecycle. Also programme management and resource planning of safety engineering activities.

The application of Engineering and System Safety skills would include definition and agreement of System Safety Programme Plans, management of Sub System Functional Failure Analysis, conducting Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Zonal Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis and Aircraft Level System Safety Analysis as well as supplier safety deliverables management. Also supporting and organising Project Safety Committees with Airworthiness and Customer involvement.

In support of providing awareness of Safety to the wider engineering and management community, there are also opportunities to help in definition of new engineering initiatives and processes as well as enhancing the profile of the team within the organisation.

Qualifications/Experience:

Degree or equivalent in Aerospace/Systems engineering or other relevant discipline.

Engineering experience in qualifying systems. Experience of product engineering lifecycle and knowledge of regulatory and other applicable safety standards (e.g. MIL-STD-882/Def Stan 00-56).

Application of Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Zonal Hazard Analysis and conducting Safety analysis at an aircraft and system level.

Understanding of Sub System and equipment analysis such as Functional Failure Analysis and FMECA.
