This leading geotechnical contractor is looking to recruit a Design Manager for their office in Lancashire
You will manage the Northern Business Unit Design Department and provide technical support for the company in all aspects of design. You would be heading up a motivated and talented team of designers and would report directly to the General Manager.
Key Tasks:
• Lead, direct, motivate, support & develop design staff.
• Develop design methods to improve the efficiency of the design process.
• Identify, assess and highlight risks and opportunities (H&S, Technical, Commercial etc.)
• Develop the design database to improve the efficiency of information flow to all departments
• Provide technical and design support to other departments.
• Develop, maintain & monitor control measures / procedures to identify risk and minimise company exposure to unidentified risks.
• Contribute as a key member of the Northern Business Unit management team
Knowledge and Experience required:
Essential
• Ability to identify, assess and highlight technical and commercial risks.
• Strong IT skills, in particular a good working knowledge of Wallap Software.
• Ability to communicate with the team, other departments and external clients.
• A good working knowledge of latest geotechnical & structural design methods and design codes.
• A good working knowledge of construction processes, methods and site practices.
• Understanding of role under CDM Health & Safety regulations.
• Identify, assess & highlight risks (H & S, Technical, Commercial, etc.)
• Experience of CFA, Bored Piling design
Advantageous
• Previous experience of managing technical staff
• Experience of wider geotechnical design or processes i.e. Diaphragm Walls, Ground Improvement, Anchors, Grouting etc.
The role is generally office based, but travel to meetings and sites across the U.K. may be necessary as and when required. They would also consider flexible working arrangements for the right candidate and a relocation package would be available if appropriate.
