Contracts Manager – Ref BB-CONTMAN-008-MT
One of the country's leading civils contractor, they design and construct foundations for all types of buildings, structures and civil engineering works. Extensive experience of piling techniques, in addition to diaphragm walling and ground improvement utilising environmental techniques.
As Contracts Manager, you will responsible for the efficient running of the contracts department including contract execution, supervision of contracts engineers and HSEQ implementation.
Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
Health Safety Environment and Quality
•Promote a high standard of Health, Safety and Environmental awareness within the business.
•Attend safety meetings including operations safety meetings on site.
•Ensure Health and Safety takes priority over any other issue and demonstrate leadership.
Quality
•Promote a high standard of quality.
•Be responsible for ensuring that staff and operatives follow procedures and method statements.
•Be responsible for ensuring that contracts engineers carry out prescribed works in accordance with contract at the same time ensuring that the company's commercial and design risks are minimised.
•Actively change systems to improve quality.
•Carry out procedural reviews when required.
Personnel
•Lead and support the Contracts Engineers including frequent visits to remote regional offices.
•Engender a good team spirit within the office and site.
•Carry out performance reviews and mentoring.
•Identify training needs and organise training.
Business Development
•Continue with targeted customer philosophy, increasing the amount of negotiated work.
•Target certain projects and clients for personal involvement/negotiation.
•Approve and clear tenders up to the prescribed clearance limit.
Operations
•Ultimately responsible for contract performance.
•Approve contract expenditure up to prescribed clearance limits.
•Review contract performance monthly with Commercial Director and Operations Director

•Actively promote innovation projects.
•Seek to improve processes, methods and techniques.
Skills Required:
Essential:
•Be able to work on construction sites.
•A good level of numeracy and be analytical in nature.
•Ability to cope with deadlines.
•Able to work alone and as part of a team.

•Team leadership skills.
Education and/or experience:
Essential
•HNC in Civil Engineering or similar.
•Proven experience in a similar role.
•Computer literate particularly with EXCEL.
•Must have a full UK driving licence
Desirable:
•Autocad and other use of software.
•Degree and proven piling experience.
