Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to provide effective technical support to the line maintenance team responsible for all aspects of Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) Power Supply System related engineering and maintenance works within the premises of Dubai Metro.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Degree or higher diploma in electrical engineering discipline or equivalent;
- Professionally qualified with membership of a recognised engineering institution;
- Minimum 3 years relevant working experience in the design, testing and commissioning, maintenance of traction Power Supply System covering HV, 750V DC traction power supplies, stray current & EMC monitoring, lineside switches & isolators and sub-stations is preferable;
- Working knowledge in 750V DC traction, transmission and distribution, 132K and 33K GIS, 132kV/33kV transformers, reactors, condensers, earthing transformer, high speed DC circuit breakers, cabling system, 3rd rail electrification, power sub-stations and ancillary plant would be a definite advantage
- At least 2 years of supervisory and management experience.
- Knowledge and experience in operating SCADA control and configuring programmable logic controllers is essential
- Ability to use and calibrate various electrical and electronics test equipment and PC for the maintenance of power supply system
- Ability to write technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of safety issues related to railway operations;
- Hold a valid driving license with good driving skill and experience.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Assist the Electrical & Mechanical Services Manager and collaborate with the Power Supply Supervisors in the planning, budgeting, management and allocation of resources.
- Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures
- Provide management back-up to the Power Supply System managerial staff during periods of leave and when required
- Provide training, technical support and guidance on Power Supply System maintenance within the Engineering & Maintenance Department and to the O&M Organisation at large
- Assist the E&M Services Manager and other technical support staff with the implementation of complex systems and new projects related to Power Supply System and E&M facilities
- Perform shift and emergency duties when required
- Support the Systems Integration Manager with the configuration control of the Metro asset and with the programme of technical audits
- Manage the Power Supply System technical support section to ensure outputs delivered are to an appropriate standard on time and within budget.
Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure that the safety standards within the section of Power Supply System are established and in compliance with the company safety policy and procedures;
- Ensure that the safety procedures are fully observed and implemented during all E&M related engineering and maintenance activities on the Power Supply System.
- Conduct regular health, safety, quality and environmental (HSQE) management review to determine if performance is adequate and to recommend any changes in procedures and instructions to the E&M Services Manager;
