Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to lead, plan and monitor the engineering and maintenance teams to provide comprehensive engineering and maintenance services covering Automatic Train Control (ATC) system and fault control for Dubai Metro.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Degree or higher diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in the design, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of system management, vehicle control, vehicle on-board equipment and lineside equipment is highly preferable
- At least 2 years of management experience with the ability to manage an ATC maintenance team with an aim to minimise the equipment and system down time and asset life
- Professionally qualified with membership of a recognised engineering institution
- Experience in maintenance planning, preparing maintenance budget, maintenance plans, procedures, instructions, technical specifications, safety and quality plans and procedures as required
- Knowledge of signalling principles, fixed block and moving block signalling systems, software based interlocking devices, point machines, induction and docking loops, cab signalling displays, on-board and wayside signalling equipment, would be a definite advantage
- IRSE license is required and certified to work on railway signalling equipment is mandatory
- Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision
- Hold a valid driving license with good driving skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Assist the ATC & Systems Manager in maintenance budgeting, managing and allocating resources to all aspects of maintenance activities within automatic train control system covering System Management Centre, Vehicle Control Centre, central control (vital and non-vital), vehicle on-board equipment and lineside equipment
- Supervise and oversee all aspects of engineering and maintenance activities pertaining to the automatic train control system including software configuration management, technical support, preparation of maintenance procedures and instructions, safety and quality plans and procedures
- Supervise and oversee all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance, renewal and minor system modification works pertaining to ATC system
- Oversee the Network Maintenance Operating Centre and mange the centralised fault reporting and handling for all the systems and facilities including Rolling Stock, ATC & Systems, Electrical & Mechanical services and Civil & Track. Manage and give guidance to Fault Controllers of all disciplines in fault handling for the Engineering & Maintenance Department
- Assist ATC & Systems Manager in designing and developing engineering and maintenance plans, procedures and instructions for ATC system and fault control
- Manage the ATC system maintenance to ensure outputs are delivered to an appropriate standard on time and within the agreed maintenance budget
Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure that the safety standards within the section of ATC system are established and in compliance with the company safety policy and procedures
- Ensure that the safety procedures are fully observed and implemented during all ATC system related engineering and maintenance activities
- Conduct regular health, safety, quality and environmental (HSQE) management review.
