Our client is UK-based and provides a wide range of contracting services to the railway industry - from projects to track renewals and specialised operations including signalling. Since its formation in 1996, it has grown rapidly and has worked hard to earn a reputation for engineering expertise, project performance, innovation and fair dealings with its customers and employees.
Our client has an urgent requirement for an entry-level Quantity Surveyor to work at their Kent depots. You will be working on a multi-million pound project which is expected to continue until December 2007.
Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering data/site records
- Preparations of applications each month
- Assisting in price negotiations
- Assisting in resolving contractual issues
- Cost analysis for variations
You must have a minimum of one year's post-graduate experience, ideally in a rail environment, but candidates from construction/heavy civils backgrounds will also be considered. You must be proactive and able to work independently on site.
You must also have a sound understanding of:
- Business functions/project relationships
- The life cycle of large construction projects
- Site safety
Familiarity with COINS software will also be an advantage.
The client will only consider candidates who are available for an immediate start. Salary is from £23 - 28,000, depending on experience.
