They are currently working on a large development which consists of the redevelopment of a site in East London, to provide a mix of community, commercial, hotel and residential, plus car parking, amenity space and landscaped river walk. There are to be six new buildings of between 6 and 40 storeys, together with the restoration and refurbishment of an existing 5-storey building. The design phase is expected to last up to 18 months.
Key responsibilities would include taking a leading role within design teams assisting in the production and coordination of design for one or more projects, ensuring the technical correctness of designs and the quality of deliverables including construction information, technical reports and carrying out other contractual obligations such as CDM risk analysis, progress reporting to clients and contractors etc. Responsibilities will also include understanding the importance of project finance including the monitoring of production costs to ensure projects remain in budget. Liaison with regulatory bodies to ensure acceptance of solutions will also be a key responsibility.
The role requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of structural engineering design and the ability to undertake and direct the detailed design of all forms of building structure.
