Our client is a Multidisciplinary consulting engineers whose focus is on designing environmentally-friendly, sustainable buildings. With a full range of engineering services, they devise the best possible solutions for the project in a fully integrated and cost effective way.
Due to an increase in workload and an ever overflowing order book a Principal Structural Engineer is required for their London office.
The role is to assist with leading and developing a team of Structural Engineers in the London office. The Principal Structural Engineer will also be responsible for managing design production for major projects under their control.
Knowledge or Experience Required:
• Designing with all major structural materials in accordance with current British Standards and Industry Good Practice
• Knowledge of related Civil Engineering design
• Leading a team of engineers on several projects at the same time
• Assistance with the maintenance of work through relationship building and demonstration of design excellence
• Managing design of projects with minimal supervision reporting to Partner and/or Associate
• Resource management within the team in liaison with Partner/Associate
• Financial control of projects under own management
• Staff development with the team
• Scheme design development
• Detail design development
• Site inspection and surveys
• Contribution to overall structural engineering department within the practice
• Client management and liaison on own projects
Skills Required:
• Ability to lead, motivate and work within a team successfully
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Prioritisation, planning and programming of work
• Problem solving
• Literate in Microsoft Office/Outlook software
• Technical/Design co-ordination
• Personal and team administration skills
• Delivery of service on time within agreed budgets
• Time management skills
• Client awareness and management skills
• Technical appreciation of inter-discipline design co-ordination
• Operational understanding of QA systems
• Good understanding of typical specialist structural software
• Understanding of designers' responsibilities under the CDM regulations
• Processes and operational procedures to meet ISO 9000 and ISO 14000
Educational Requirements:
• Chartered Engineer (MICE/MIStructE)
• BEng or MEng (or equivalent) in relevant subject
