To ensure the commercial function is co-ordinated smoothly on a day to day basis including all ad-hoc duties.
Oversee, evaluate and price all tender/ITT documentation (including OJEC searches) from new and existing customers. This includes the preparation and collation of all information required for tenders and submission liaising with internal staff for pricing structures etc.
Co-ordinating projects from inception to completion including sourcing information, tendering, liaison with clients, billing, final accounts etc.
Ensure a timely response in all instances for the receipt and review of all invitations to tender in accordance with Company guidelines whilst maximising margin opportunities.
Ensure and review all tender and customers contractual documentation from start to finish to ensure that the company is compliant with any Safety Case issues and legal obligations and insurance etc and likewise that this information is cascaded effectively (Internally) for existing and new obligations.
To assist with the development, maintenance and review of an integrated fixed price and call off costing/contract database with hardcopy/electronic filing.
To assist with the maintenance and review of direct labour rates by job grade/function, shift and material usage/prices.
Negotiation of terms and conditions with customers (new and existing).
Maintain strong relations with customers and suppliers, attending any meetings when necessary. Use relationships to develop new work and contracts.
Co-ordinate all sub-contractor tender documents and review the monthly WIP Summary.
Ensure any variations to costs are highlighted to the client as and when these occur for effective billing purposes.
Co-ordinating the day to day and weekly billing function for all works undertaken.
To assist and undertake with other associated business requirements as directed by the Management.
Keep abreast of railway maintenance practices and legislative changes on current practices to ensure compliance and furthermore that all cost implications are reflected in bid responses.
Skills Required For The Role
Experience in a commercial or quantity surveyor role
Knowledge of the Railway industry specifically NWR an advantage
Understanding of Underground/LUL beneficial
Membership of a professional body or QS qualification or similar industry qualification desirable
Advanced knowledge of MS Word and Excel and good all round user of other IT programmes
Excellent Verbal and Written skills
