We are seeking a dynamic and experienced geotechnical engineer to lead a highly qualified team of geotechnical specialists working mainly in the offshore and petrochemical sectors in our newly established London Office, which we have set-up to meet growing demand from our clients.
Requirements
Your role will be to develop and expand our offshore geotechnics business and our involvement in soil-structure interaction problems in the offshore and petrochemical sectors, building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding team. Your offshore engineering knowledge and reputation will be supported by the considerable depth of skill and expertise within Atkins’ rapidly expanding UK and worldwide geotechnics business which includes a number of internationally renowned experts.Candidates should have: - Good people skills and the ability to develop and lead a design team
- Excellent communication skills - you should also be able to liaise at project manager level with our clients. excellent report writing skills and the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
- Appropriate amount of experience in a fast moving engineering consultancy environment
- Familiarity with offshore and seismic site investigations; design of offshore pile, gravity base and suction anchor foundations; soil-pipeline interaction; design for dynamic and earthquake loadings; design of large onshore tank foundations
- Familiarity with the application of numerical modelling to ground structure interaction problems using commercially available finite element and finite difference packages
- A flare for innovation
- Strong academic background with a relevant degree - ideally MSc (+) or equiv.
- UK Driving Licence
- Candidates in a position to obtain UK security clearance to SC level would be an advantage
