What is the Role?
This is a senior position, within an operational railway, managing both the civil and the track elements. Essentially you would have one line report, to the General Manager of Infrastructure. This is both an engineering role and a senior management role.
Therefore the safe operation of the rail system would be your responsibility. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following;
· Create and implement asset maintenance strategies.
· Develop a plan to utilise all resources effectively such as plant, labour and materials
· Development and implementation of policies and procedures, covering safety, engineering, works planning, resource management, performance etc
· Ensure compliance with all relevant railway standards
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with Stakeholders.
· Manage the team to generate effective reports, on the asset.
The railway is expanding and therefore you will be interfacing with the projects team, as you get involved in expansion-associated projects.
Why should I apply?
Having successfully worked with this client on a number of senior roles, we can confirm that the experience of a new employee is excellent. There is a good strong culture within the organisation that people genuinely enjoy.
Clearly the role is challenging, put certainly rewarding. The organisation is not too large, so you become faceless, but is of a good size, where you can make an effective difference in your role.
Who are the likely candidates?
You will have worked in Rail track maintenance, at an Area Track Engineer or Area Track Manager level. Clearly you will understand relevant legislation associated with such an operational level.
Your experience may be more rail civil focussed rather than rail permanent way, but you will have a clear understanding of both elements.
You must have experience of managing teams, of maintainers and installers. However, the teams do not need to have been unnecessarily large. Certainly two to three teams, with a management hierarchy of Supervisors, team leaders and technicians would be sufficient.
The client, would like you to be a Chartered Engineer, or have a professional engineering qualification, such as a Degree in Civil Engineering or a HNC in civil engineering. But time served experience would be more than sufficient.
