What is the Role?
An opportunity has arisen in our client’s rail engineering team for a project manager to be based in our London office. The rail engineering team carries out design, management and commissions of rail projects in the UK and overseas, working on heavy rail, light rail and metro schemes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a project. In this role you would be reporting to the project director. Internally you would be liaising with the design team and technical directors and externally with clients and sub consultants. The principal duties of this position would be leading and managing small to large design commissions and deputising for the commercial manager on larger projects. You would be working in accordance with good practice in managing and delivering of projects, supporting initiatives to disseminate best practice through the rail engineering group.

What Skills do I need?
To be eligible for this role you must have a degree in civil engineering or a related discipline and you must be a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. In addition we require the following experience in:
· Leading, managing and controlling design projects, ensuring delivery to time and cost targets
· Establishing project objectives and establishing the project organisation required to achieve these
· Establishing project control systems (cost / time / deliverables and document control)
· Establishing project schedule and using the schedule to manage delivery
· Cost controlling using earned value analysis methods
· Maintaining proper project records and agreeing payment with clients, including the preparation and justification of claims
· Maintaining overall financial control on projects ensuring that cash flow is maximised / capital employed minimised
· Working on rail engineering / major civil engineering projects
