Description
The post holder will be responsible for both line management & office management associated with the rail team. You will report directly to the Regional Director for the Rail Business Unit.
Role will include the management of project financial performance, budgeting & invoicing.

Some key elements of the role:
Business Development: Develop & implement a robust client relationship management programme for the Derby Rail office. This will include key account management for principal clients to the Business Unit in the Rail sector.
Business Delivery: Understand & apply effective project management principles. Manage business risk & working capital. Display contract awareness & dispute management skills.
Staff Retention & Recruitment: Active in the recruitment and retention of staff. Positively sell the company at all times, ensure that staff potential is maximised and shall co-ordinate continued professional development within the team.
Corporate and Social Responsibility: Align with the company’s corporate & social responsibility objectives. Seek to improve the community in which the team works, lives & maximise the use of environmentally sustainable resources.
Business Excellence: Actively contribute towards the business excellence model through the adoption of the clients values. Assist the Regional Director in the development of a robust business plan.
Technical Excellence: Demonstrate technical expertise, encourage knowledge sharing, be responsible for overall technical control of rail projects & act as technical ambassador for the Business Unit where appropriate.
The post holder will be required to undertake the following key activities:
Client liaison
Bid Management and tendering.
Project Management & Commercial Management
Business planning & management reporting.
Financial performance review & analysis.
Production of outline and detailed design solutions
Leading the technical development of engineering solutions.
Undertaking the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE).
Qualifications
Chartered Civil Engineer C Eng. MICE or MIStructE.
Experience
Practical experience of civil engineering works, preferably within a consultancy environment, including:
Trackbed investigation and / or design
Permanent Way design and / or assessment
Drainage and earthworks design and remediation
Surveying / setting out
Geotechnical investigation and / or design
Experience of managing programmes of work on-time and within budget
