Senior Contracts Engineer Rail – Ref BB-SCONENGR-27-MT
One of the country's leading civils contractor, they design and construct foundations for all types of buildings, structures and civil engineering works. Extensive experience of piling techniques, in addition to diaphragm walling and ground improvement utilising environmental techniques.
The position of Senior Contracts Engineer – Rail, you will be responsible for the running of one or more contracts on site, ensuring that the company procedures, including HSEQ are implemented.
All preparatory work necessary prior to mobilisation, monitoring of site performance and costs, ensuring the correct execution of the pile design, plus preparation of accounts for submission to clients.
Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
Health Safety Environment and Quality
•To review and approve the Contract HSEQ Plan and Risk Assessment.
•To continually review, monitor and report on the HSEQ performance of the contract.
•Ensure works are carried out to the standard, quality and tolerances as required by the Specification.
•To review the Risk Assessments and HSEQ Adviser's reports. To highlight any trends and take appropriate action.
Programme
•To review the overall contract programme compiled by the Contract Engineer and action as necessary.
•Attend the review and progress meetings with the Contractor or Client.
Sub-Contractors
•Ensure sub-contract orders are placed on the appropriate forms.
•Ensure that Work Procedures used by Sub-Contractors conform to our requirements.
Correspondence
•To review all correspondence, compile replies or delegate to the Contract Engineer.
•Copy correspondence to those affected, i.e. foreman/supervisor/engineer etc.
•Provide regular Contract Progress Reports to the Operations Manager.
Commercial
•Review the tender and after discussions with other parties, e.g. estimator, operations manager, foreman etc decide on the most efficient method of resourcing/executing the contract.
•Compile and review the contract budget.
•Review the contract forecast and take action if necessary.
•Review and action the financial performance of the contract each week.
Design
•To review and check the pile design for the contract.
•To be aware of value engineering and look out for and take up any opportunities.
•To complete any design work necessary in the event of remedials
Skills Required: Essential:
•Be able to work on construction sites.
•A good level of numeracy and be analytical in nature.
•Ability to cope with deadlines.
•Able to work alone and as part of a team.
•Be self motivating.
Education and/or experience: Essential
•HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
•Proven experience in similar role
•Computer literate particularly with EXCEL.
•Must have a full UK driving licence
