Our client is a market leading signalling organisation. As a result of their continued success, they are now seeking a talented CAD Designer (Technical Specialist) to further expand their already established workforce.

Based in either Derby or Reading, you will be a technical expert in a specialist engineering area, especially skilled in CAD/Microstation support and development.

The pre-requisite for this position is that you must possess knowledge of signalling gained from successfully performing a CAD position within rail in the past.

The main duties you will be expected to undertake are as follows:

• Provide specialist engineering in the development of CAD/MicroStation products.
• Provide support of CAD products to internal and external customers.
• Provide documentation of CAD products as required.
• Assist with testing and installation of CAD products.
• Ensure all specialist engineering details are compliant with, produced and issued in accordance with defined principle and practices.
• Provide guidance and training for other staff as required.
• Liaise with .senior technical specialist to set up programs and objectives.
• Assist with planning as required
• Manage and record time and assist in providing time estimates for tasks

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

• ONC level education in IT support with experience preferably in CAD support and MicroStation programming.
• Knowledge of Group and company standards and procedures and HSE legislation.
• Good office applications and CAD and CAD standards knowledge.
• Engineering and project safety requirements.
• Ability to document user guides
• Ability to test software
• Knowledge of
• Signalling principles.
• Circuits and components
• Implications of working with other disciplines.
