Security Cleared Mechanical & Electrical Technical Officer

A Mechanical and Electrical Technical Officer is required in the Suffolk area.

The successful applicant will be responsible to the Team Manager for the maintenance of building and infrastructure services and for the execution of minor new works. The ability to form good customer relations is essential. All works are to be carried out in accordance with both US and UK statutory and mandatory requirements and within funding approvals.

Main duties:

a. Evaluate and estimate work requests as submitted by the client and select method of execution.

b. Prepare and raise orders to accomplish contracted work in accordance with delegated authority through a range of Facility Support Contracts, Lump Sum Competitive Tenders and Jobbing Contracts. Supervise the execution of the works and ensure satisfactory completion on time and within budget.

c. Supervise the operations of contractors carrying out day to day maintenance. Oversee diagnostic and repair work.

d. Ensure that statutory records and documentation are maintained correctly and available for inspection and ensure that all safety regulations are enforced.

e. Liaise with client departments and staff from other sections to ensure good working relationships and provide technical advice on request.

f. Load Contract work in computer database. Track, monitor and update work status to ensure customer expectations and agreed completion dates are being met. Use computer database to provide status and progress reports to higher management and Team Leaders as required.

The successful applicant will preferably have experience in maintenance and minor new works on military installations and have a sound Mechanical and Electrical background.

Familiarity with Government forms of contract will be an advantage as will M & E experience.

The post holder will have good communication skills, will be able to supervise contractors, will work on his or her own initiative with minimal supervision and direction and will have good knowledge of current UK Health and Safety requirements. A full UK driving license is required.

This is an ongoing contract to start as soon as possible.
