What is the Role?

The successful candidate will direct and oversee the delivery of Major Projects or a Programme of Projects and lead the preparation of proposals for mulit-disciplinary rail design and consultancy projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that operation, commercial, administrative and professional functions are delivered to meet business targets. The post holder will co-ordinate a team of staff engaged in proposals and project management work.

Development of new business opportunities, management of the bidding process and project management activities will also form part of your responsibilities.

You, the applicant will be working for one of the UK’s top 10 Engineering consultancies that has a well-earned reputation in Civil and Structural Engineering, they have considerable skills in railway bridges, stations and other civil engineering works in a railway environment. They undertake feasibility studies, scheme designs, bid preparations and detailed designs for all types of railway structures on a UK and International level.

What Skills do I need?

It is desired that the successful candidate is a Chartered Engineer/Member of Professional Body and will have a BSc/BEng in a relevant subject (Hons). Railway experience is desirable, along with technical management and understanding of the design process.

You will have proven management experience of working with and managing major projects. Project management techniques, technical management and an understanding of the design process are also required. Commercial and contractual appreciation is essential for this role.

You should be willing to travel throughout the UK and undertake short trips overseas, as required.
