Our client is a major employer based on the south coast. They are looking for a number of Plater/Fabricators to work in the Defence industry.You will be responsible for the joining and fabrication of heavy gauge plate metal, using a wide range of processes to enhance or repair Royal Naval vessels. You will be required to:-Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions Understand and follow health & safety arrangementsInterpret and, Work from 2 dimensional drawings, and x, y, z, co-ordinate hot-work drawings Have ALL the basic hand skills, i.e.; Burning & chamfering of thick and thin plate. Tack welding and short run fillet welding.Undertake Accurate Marking off, and measurement using Tapes straight edges, Levels, squares, string/chalk lines, and plumb bobsHave the ability to use a Dumpy level and laser plane levelUse grinders and changing discsHave experience in use of strong-backs and fairing aids to prevent distortion.Bend and form thick and thin plateAssist in dry-dock preparation. The ability to weld to Code would also be an advantage.You must have served and successfully completed a recognised Apprenticeship and a relevant trade qualification e.g. City & Guilds, ONC, HNC. You must be self-motivated, reliable and able to demonstrate good time keeping. The work is physically demanding and you will need to be a team player to ensure project deadlines are met.The basic salary is £20,966 with overtime premiums paid after 37 hours, as well as an uplift on shift work.You will be entitled to 193 Hours Holiday per annum, plus Bank Holidays, along with sick pay and a pension scheme.Apply now to avoid disappointment
